“Brownie’s going to be in our ballet class,” I announced to my friends at recess. Jelly, Perfume, Powderpuff, Sunshine, Iris, Caramel, and I were playing jump rope games together. Out of our group, Perfume and Sunshine were the only ones not in ballet class.
“What?” Caramel gasped. “How many more of our classes is she going to be joining?”
“My thoughts exactly!” I said.
“Peanut, you’re in her work group. You should find out for us,” said Powderpuff.
“Miss Tiffy already told her she’ll be added to our Jingle Hop jazz dance,” Perfume said with a scowl.
“What?!” Caramel, Iris, and I exclaimed.
“Yeah. I was the one who overheard that conversation,” Sunshine added.
“Ugh!” I moaned. “That doesn’t seem fair!”
“Dandelion was added to our tap dance,” Jelly pointed out, “and she’s going to be joining our ballet class tonight, too.”
“But Dandelion is really nice, and she wasn’t showing off,” Powderpuff pointed out.
“Maybe Brownie wasn’t showing off,” argued Jelly. “Maybe she’s just…good, like Winky said.”
The Shroozer girls all made faces.
“Twelve is a better number for choreography,” Iris said thoughtfully. “We can be paired off for stuff when there’s an even number of dancers.”
Perfume rolled her eyes. Powderpuff looked thoughtful as she did a high kick and caught her own foot in the air to stretch her leg.
“I just can’t believe she’s a dancer and we never knew it,” she said, almost to herself.
“Who cares! Hopefully she’ll go back to Perfect Stages or wherever she came from,” said Sunshine. “I’m gonna be so mad if she shows up in acro on Friday too.”
“Our Jingle Hop choreo would be ruined if she joins our acro class,” I agreed.
We returned our focus to our jump ropes after that, and I noticed that Jelly looked a little…funny.
